Break Station is an installation piece comprised of a TV and a control console that enables a participant to manipulate/disrupt the sound and image of a real-time TV broadcast. When a participant touches a copper disc and a basin of water the piece is turned on. Rotating the copper disc affects the audio pitch, while the other hand, in a pool of water lined with glass beads merges a live video feed of the participant’s hand into the real-time broadcast on the television screen.
Reminiscent of a DJ booth the user can physically engage with and mix his or her physical representation into the space of the televised image and alter the audio.
